What We Believe

At The Turning Pointe, we follow God by Trusting Together and Pointing to Jesus.

Statement of Faith

God

We believe in one God, eternally existent in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is the Creator and Ruler of all things, perfect in holiness, power, love, and truth. God is worthy of all worship, trust, and obedience.

Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for our sins through His death on the cross. He rose bodily from the dead, ascended into Heaven, and will return one day in power and glory to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is fully God and is present in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He lives in every believer from the moment of salvation, empowering them for holy living and service. The Spirit provides understanding of spiritual truth, bestows spiritual gifts, and leads the Church in mission.

The Bible

We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. It reveals His will for salvation and is the final authority for faith and life. All Scripture is God-breathed, true in all that it affirms, and sufficient to teach us how to know and follow Him.

Humanity and Sin

We believe that all people are created in the image of God, made for relationship with Him. However, through sin, humanity became separated from God, spiritually dead, and unable to save itself. Every person needs God’s grace through Jesus Christ.

Salvation

We believe that salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone. It is the free gift of God, received through repentance and trust in Jesus’ finished work on the cross. Those who are saved are forgiven, made new, adopted into God’s family, and given eternal life. Salvation cannot be earned by good works or human effort.

The Church

We believe the Church is the Body of Christ on earth, made up of all believers everywhere. God has called the Church to gather regularly for worship, teaching, fellowship, and prayer, and to go out in mission to make disciples of all nations. Jesus is the Head of the Church, and each local church is to be led under His authority.

Christian Living

We believe every follower of Jesus is called to live a life of obedience to God, growing in holiness through the power of the Holy Spirit. This includes loving God and neighbor, pursuing righteousness, using spiritual gifts for the building up of the Church, and bearing witness to Christ in word and deed.

Baptism and Holy Communion

We believe baptism and Holy Communion (also called the Lord’s Supper) are ordinances given by Christ to the Church. Baptism is both a sign of the seal of God’s covenant with His people, and a public declaration of faith, symbolizing the believer’s union with Christ in His death and resurrection.

Holy Communion is a remembrance of Jesus’ sacrifice and a celebration of the New Covenant. Neither ordinance brings salvation, but both are vital acts of obedience and worship.

The Return of Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ will return personally and visibly to the earth to fulfill God’s eternal plan. This blessed hope motivates believers to live holy and expectant lives as they await His coming. God will bring about the final judgment, the resurrection of the dead, the restoration of creation, and the eternal reign of Christ.
