From Chains to Mission
We all know what it feels like to be chained: by addiction, shame, fear, or just the labels people put on us. In Mark 5, Jesus steps into enemy territory and frees a man everyone else had given up on. But He didn’t just break the man’s chains; He gave him a mission.
In this message, Pastor Zakk Gammon shows us that Jesus frees us not only from bondage but also for mission. The question is: will we keep living in our chains, or will we walk in the freedom He offers?

CROSSROADS: From Chains to Mission
Mark 5:1-20 (NIV)
⸻
BOTTOM LINE: Jesus sets us free so we can help others find freedom.
⸻
1. The Scene (vv. 1-5)
Jesus steps into enemy territory - a place no other rabbi would go.
A man posessed by demons lives among the tombs, isolated and hopeless.
His chains can't hold him, but his bondage runs deeper than metal.
Key Thought: No one is too far gone for Jesus to reach.
⸻
2. The Confrontation (vv. 6-13)
The demons recognize Jesus' authority immediately.
At His word, they flee, and the man is completely set free.
Chaos gives way to calm; torment turns to peace.
Key Thought: The moment Jesus steps in, the chains start to fall.
⸻
3. The Transformation (vv. 14-20)
The man sits clothed, calm, and in his right mind: fully restored.
Jesus sends him home to tell his story, and his testimony spreads through ten cities.
His past becomes his platform for mission.
Key Thought: Jesus doesn't just set us free from something. He sets us free for something.

QUESTIONS FOR REFLECTION:
What "chains" has Jesus already broken in your life?
Are there areas where you're still living like you're bound?
Who around you needs to hear your story of freedom?
