From Desperation to Deliverance
We all know what it feels like to be desperate: for healing, for hope, for peace. In Mark 5, a woman who had suffered for twelve long years reached out to Jesus in faith, and in one moment, everything changed. She came for healing, but He gave her more than she ever imagined: peace, wholeness, and a new identity.
In this message, Pastor Zakk Gammon shows us how Jesus still meets us in our desperation, and how reaching out in faith can change everything.
Sermon Notes
CROSSROADS: From Desperation to Deliverance
Mark 5:24-34 NIV
⸻
BOTTOM LINE:
Jesus meets us in our desperation with healing and wholeness.
⸻
1. The Struggle (vv. 24-26)
A woman has suffered for twelve years with constant bleeding.
She's spent everything she has on doctors, but her condition has only worsened.
She's physically weak, financially broke, and spiritually isolated.
Key Thought: Desperation can either drive us away from God or straight to Him.
⸻
2. The Reach (vv. 27-29)
Hearing about Jesus, she pushes through the crowd, saying, "If I can just touch His clothes, I'll be healed."
She breaks social and religious barriers to get to Him.
The moment she touches His robe, her bleeding stops, and she knows she's been healed.
Key Thought: Desperation became the doorway to her deliverance.
⸻
3. The Encounter (vv. 30-34)
Jesus stops and asks, "Who touched me?"
The woman steps forward, trembling, and tells Him the whole truth.
Jesus calls her "Daugher" - the only time He uses that word - and sends her away healed, whole, and restored.
Key Thought: She came for healing but left with identity and peace.

Questions for Reflection:
What's an area of your life where you feel desperate for change?
What might it look like for you to "reach out" to Jesus in faith this week?
How can your story of desperation become someone else's hope?
